Brenda Cartier

In 1994, I started my journey with yoga after the birth of my second child. It became my passion; I credit yoga with helping to balance my life and health. Yoga has also given me a better understanding of how the body works and heals on all levels – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I attended Trinity Yoga’s teacher training with Mary-Jo Fetterly and have studied under master teachers throughout Canada, the U.S. and Asia. As a result, I’ve acquired over 500 hours of additional training along with a vast number of influences to draw from. After operating a studio for more than ten years and teaching ten classes per week, I’ve accumulated over 1000 hours of teaching experience. I’ve also completed 500 hours of E-RYT training with The Canadian Yoga Alliance.
After all of my hard work and studying, Yoga Therapy has won my heart and healed my body more than anything I have worked with before.  I thoroughly enjoy passing this knowledge onto my students in a caring, thoughtful manner.  I focus on giving every student my special attention and adaptations for their individual needs. I strive to gently challenging them while never moving beyond what their bodies are capable of.
One of my strengths as a teacher is my ability to fully empathize with those living with pain – I’ve experienced several serious car accidents and surgeries myself. In some ways, I am grateful for these experiences – they’ve made me a more effective and compassionate teacher. These difficult lessons have also given me a more thorough understanding of the emotions that accompany physical healing. But more than anything else, my greatest learning experiences have come from witnessing the practice of yoga through the eyes of my students, with whom I’ve developed bonds based on friendship and mutual healing.
I currently offer specialized private and semi-private classes, workshops and retreats. Corporate group lessons are also available.
